The Backyard Rail Jam Series takes place several times over the winter season on Saturday nights at Mt. Norquay and is open to skiers and boarders of all ages. The series runs from 7pm till 9pm at night with registration starting at 5pm.

Dave Irwin's Dash for Cash is an annual fundraising event for the Dave Irwin Foundation for Brain Injury and features teams of four participating in dual slalom format races in support of acquired brain injury education, research and outreach programs. The annual event is held at Sunshine Village Ski Resort in February.

What is the Mountain Smoker? It's an epic event held every spring at Norquay to see how many runs skiers can log on the Lone Pine in three hours. That's three hours of intense skiing that will create a reputation to last a lifetime!

The current record held by Bob Rankin (1981) is 22 runs in 3 hours (30,000 vertical feet)

Entry forms can be picked up from Mountain Magic Equipment in Banff or Mt Norquay Guest Services. Competitors can enter on competition day.

You think running is hard? Try it with snowshoes! The Blitz Snowshoe Fun Run will be a fun day hiking/running through single track, double track, cat track, up/down ski runs, and fresh powder terrain. 4km or 8km course. Prizes for top finishers in each age category. Register Online before Feb 19th!

So get out and enjoy the mountain terrain in beautiful Alberta. There is no better way to do it than on snowshoes with the Blitz!

Registration includes entry into the race, Blitz apparel, $5 voucher to Kika Cafe, and numerous chances to win some great prizes provided by our sponsors.

The Banff Jasper Relay is a scenic 258km road race run in 15 stages on highways from Banff to Jasper. The relay is a fundraiser for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
The relay will consist of 2 phases run simultaneously:
• Phase 1 has 6 stages from Banff to Saskatchewan River Crossing.
• Phase 2 has 9 stages from Saskatchewan River Crossing to Jasper.
Team results are based on the cumulative times for both phases of the relay added together

Banff regularly hosts visitors from across the continent and around the world and starting in 2010, the town also hosts beginner and professional athletes from throughout North America in this annual triathlon. Participants swim in Two Jack Lake, cycle the Minnewanka Loop and run through the centre of Banff for a spectacularly scenic triathlon.

This Terry Fox Run takes place in Banff every September is in support of cancer research. In Banff, the run takes place at the Recreation Grounds, while there are similar runs held in Canmore and Lake Louise.

This annual 10K and 22K road race has been taking place for over 30 years in Banff and has been voted Alberta's best road race. The organized race, usually held on a September Saturday, donates profits generated from the event back into the community. Starts at the Banff Recreation Grounds.

To commemorate the anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, every school in Canada is invited to participate in the Terry Fox National School Run Day. This event will be held simultaneously at schools large and small from coast-to-coast. With millions of schools participating, this could one of the largest single-day events in Canadian history and will allow our youth to show all of Canada the power they have to help others.

The race starts out from the front of the Caribou Lodge and Spa, running on an out and back course along Banff Avenue and Tunnel Mountain Road. Participants carry “Glo Sticks” and can enjoy refreshments, awards and draw prizes in the lodge following the race.

The Sunshine 5000 Ski Mountaineering Competition is a two-day event held at Sunshine Village in cooperation with the Alpine Club of Canada. The competition features backcountry skiing and mountaineering (vertical climbing and boot-pack sections) in three categories (Race, Citizen and Introductory). Open for both men and women.
