General Information
Fish the Bow River for brown, brook, cutthroat and bull trout (mostly catch and release). Trophy-sized lake trout are often caught in Lake Minnewanka, although the average is 1-2 kg (2-5 lbs). There is also good fishing at Spray Lakes, Mt Lorette and Barrier Lake ponds, Kananaskis River and Lakes, and Chief Hector Lake. Provincial fishing licenses ($25.66/yr, WIN $8, non-Canadian $26.63/day) available from Rusticana Grocery, 2, 801 Main St, Canmore, 678-4465 Map 4, 20C. Parks Canada fishing licenses ($9.80/day; $34.30/yr), regulations and information are available from Banff Visitor Centre, 224 Banff Ave, 762-1550 Map 3, 14P; Lake Louise Visitor Centre, Samson Mall, 522-3833 Map 2, 20M; and Lake Minnewanka Boathouse, 762-3473 Map 3, 2H.
